The African Confederation of Professional Organizations of Artisanal Fisheries (CAOPA) organized from Wednesday 21st to Saturday 23rd July 2022, at the “Les Bougainvilliers” hotel in Saly, a workshop on Convention 188 on decent work in fisheries: an issue of the future for African artisanal fisheries. This activity is in line with the preparation of the International Year of Artisanal Fisheries and Aquaculture (IYAFA 2022).
IYAFA aims to raise awareness among the general public and governments of the importance of adopting specific public policies and programs to promote sustainable artisanal fisheries and aquaculture, with particular attention to the most vulnerable rural areas, where weak governance and capacity undermine the sustainable use of resources.
