Guinea-Bissau: 25 Women in artisanal fisheries learn about financial education

The African Confederation of Professional Organizations of Artisanal Fisheries (CAOPA) in partnership with the National Association of Women for Economic Activities (AMAE) is organizing a training session in Bissau (Guinea-Bissau) from 6 to 7 April 2021. It aims to train women in the fisheries sector who are members of AMAE.

The modules developed by Sérgio Mendes Resende Costa, Consultant in Business Administration and Management, will enable participants to understand the business creation cycle, to define the business, to plan activities, to know more about the market, to register records (income, expenses, stock), etc.

During the two days, the 25 participants will be trained in, “financial education, their relationship with money, the family budget, how to reduce unnecessary expenses, how to save today to earn tomorrow, how to calculate the costs of products or services and set the selling price taking into account the market; management of small businesses or trade and sharing of experience in credit union management with the solidarity fund of Nianing in Senegal”.

“In case of small businesses, the appropriate management instruments will be set up, such as the register of costs and incomes, i.e. expenses and revenues and the calculation of business profits,” says Sérgio Mendes Resende Costa.

The methodological approach will be participatory, based on the sharing of experiences between the facilitator and the beneficiaries, on the one hand, and the beneficiaries among themselves, using terminology adapted to the entry profile, on the other. “There will be a case study presentation by the participants and the opportunity for the concrete application of the instruments and concepts learned during the training”, underlines the trainer.

This training will be provided in Portuguese or Creole.
